About the artists:
Joey Mariano and his music are one portion of the chip music schematic. The capacitance of his creations range from genre connections to genre transformers and are not limited to the common rules and regulations associated with normal sound organization. Mariano is know for bringing a heavily improvised approach to chip music with his Gameboy Foot controller + an 8bit style fuzz pedal. Constantly seeking new modes and formulas for music, Mariano places his unique musical chemistry under the alias Animal Style. http://www.animal-style.com/

Chipocrite aka Paul Weinstein (former bassist of MJ Project, Philadelphia’s favorite jamtronfusion monstergroup) started making music with Game Boys in early 2009. It was the sound he felt he was destined to create, a mix of old and new, a way to bridge the comforting video game tones he grew up with and the complex but catchy songs he was hearing in his head all those years later. He’s constantly adding new songs to his repertoire, which has been described as “upbeat and danceable. Robert Joffred, or Ro-Bear, initially fell in love with the music of video games early on while playing Tetris Attack and Yoshi’s Island on his Super Nintendo. After learning musical instruments from guitar to trombone, he discovered LSDJ in the spring of 2008 and hasn’t looked back. Taking influences from Maurice Ravel to Daryl Hall, Ro-Bear focuses on making heavily melodic compositions created from a Nintendo Game Boy. http://www.myspace.com/robearaudio

Kris Keyser is just another guy with a Game Boy. Having hopped from instrument to instrument in his over 10 years of music making, Kris has finally found his perfect match in the portable powerhouse known as Little Sound DJ. In his relatively short time in the chip scene, Kris has jumped from relative unknown to relative known,playing chipscene institutions I/O and Pulsewave and making countless feet move and brains melt. Prince_S »> Prince_S is the chiptune project of Stella Cannefax, started in 2008.  The name (pronounced “princess”) has multiple origins; “princess” is an old nickname, borne out of a tendency towards fancy dresses and poofy things.  Stella’s moniker also a references archetypal video game princesses.  The underscore was just him trying to be clever and easy to locate.

L-tron »> Upon discovering what the program was capable of, the scientists took immediate precautions, securing it inside of the nearest electronic device they could find: a Nintendo Game Boy.  They feared its power yet could not bring themselves to destroy it.  Trapped Inside the machine with no way to escape and return to its own time, the program began expressing itself through the sound chip of the Game Boy.  Eons passed.  An exploration vessel near a planet called Earth recorded the following transmissions – Code-named: L-tron.

kid versus chemical is the brainchild of Matt Battaglia, an electronic musician, chiptune composer, circuit bender, avid synth fanatic, rapper, harsh noise fiend, and all around weirdo from Long Island, NY.   The only constant with kvc is that there is no consistency, just a steady stream of scatterbrained sound exploration and a bewildering lack of genre preference. Be forewarned, you never know exactly what you might hear when you come across an MP3 or see him at a local open mic, the only sure thing is if you meet him he will happily talk about synthesizers and/or sports for hours on end

Natty is Nathaniel Adams: writer, musician, and President of the Institute for Elegance. He composes music using software running on hand-held devices such as the PlayStation Portable, Nintendo Game Boy, and (as soon as someone invents some music software for it,) the Amazon Kindle 2. He resides in Jersey City, New Jersey, where he spends most of his time fully dressed. He is the inventor of many cocktails and the beneficiary of many kisses and flutters of eyelashes.
